Commercial HVAC Tips To Remember For This Spring
As you move through the last days of winter and get ready for warmer spring air, it's a good time to remember that your commercial HVAC system may be due for a tune-up. It's likely been working hard all winter to keep your employees nice and toasty, but now you need to make sure it's ready to switch gears when the weather starts getting warm again. Here are some commercial HVAC tips for the spring to keep in mind.
Start With a Visual Inspection and Cleaning
Many companies keep their commercial HVAC equipment up on their roof or in a designated area outside their building. Being outside all winter long could cause your HVAC equipment to pick up some dirt and debris over time. Start your spring cleaning by going up on the roof or to the designated spot and taking a look around. You are looking for any obvious signs of trouble, like a tree branch or leaves that have fallen on top of a fan. Open any protective covers or grating and remove debris from the inside of your equipment as needed.
Swap the Filters
If you want your commercial HVAC system to run efficiently this spring, it needs clean air filters to get the job done. A clogged filter will lead to a very inefficient system, a higher energy bill, and a building that doesn't ever seem to be at the right temperature. You should be switching out your air filters at least once a season anyway. Most commercial systems will have more than one air filter, so don't forget to swap or clean them all.
Check Your Ductwork
This is also as good of a time as any to check some other spots throughout your HVAC system that you can't easily see. Specifically, it's time to check if your ductwork made it through the winter intact. Ductwork that has a leak or too much dirt accumulation can lead to problems. A professional commercial HVAC specialist can help give your ductwork a little spring cleaning.
Get a Full Inspection
For best results though, don't limit your HVAC contractor to checking out the ductwork. Have a commercial contractor inspect every last part of your HVAC system because he or she may notice problems that you did not. This will leave you with the peace of mind of knowing that your HVAC system is ready for the warmer weather ahead
