Diagnosing The Normal Or Worrisome Sounds Of Your Water Heater

If you usually have the noise of your family, pets, or television on, you could often go years without ever noticing the noise that your water heater produces. Therefore, when you finally do notice it, you may think that the sounds you finally have the opportunity to hear may indicate that a problem is occurring. Therefore, it is a good idea to be aware of the following information when you are making a determination as to if you should call a repair expert or if it safe to instead find something more fun to do with your day.

Rumbling, Rolling Sounds At Periodic Intervals

Rumbling or rolling sounds are often associated with the ignition of a fuel source in some water heaters and occur as the result of hot water usage. For instance, if someone is bathing, using the dishwasher, or washing clothes in anything other than an entirely cold cycle, it would not be unusual for you to hear the grumblings of the hot water heater. However, since a pre-determined amount of water is kept warm in the tank in most units, you might not hear those sounds if someone were merely washing their hands or washing a dish or two by hand.

If you constantly hear that sound, even when nobody is or has recently used hot water, it may indicate a developing problem. That is especially true if anyone is complaining that there never seems to be enough hot water for what they need. If that occurs, it's time to call an expert, as delaying it could mean that you'll have cold showers one day soon.

A Distinct Bang When Someone Turns Off A Water Faucet

One concern to watch for is a loud banging sound that occurs when someone quits using the water. While it is somewhat possible that the problem could manifest without signifying an underlying problem, such as a first use after hot water was used up, it is far more likely to indicate that an issue with water velocity or leaking valves is manifesting. In addition, it could be an issue with the oil burner that could result in excess soot and the increased chance of a puffback explosion, while a gas leak could cause an explosion.

Since an expert will be able to determine the problem, it is best to consult with an expert. Otherwise, the risk of serious injury and damage to the home exists.

In conclusion, a water heater is an incredibly important aspect of your home and can dramatically impact the health, hygiene, and comfort of everyone who lives there. Therefore, it only makes sense that as a responsible homeowner, it is a good idea to have a basic understanding of what the rumblings and other noises produced by the water heater could indicate...and when you should worry about them. Understanding Appliance Services

After we started going through and renovating our home, we realized that we needed to replace our appliances along with everything else. We started looking into new kitchen appliances, and we realized that we didn't know how to service a lot of the new complex gadgets if they broke. To make the process much easier, we started looking into appliance services. We were able to find an amazing business that offered appliance services, and we signed up for the service. It was great to simply call them whenever we needed help, and I knew that it would make a big difference for us long-term.
